Schleich products are made of various plastics and dyes, which are carefully selected to meet the respective requirements. Most typically plastics used are polyvinyl chloride (PVC), thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), in addition to other plastics typical for toys. Even the material suppliers are subject to strict controls by our quality officers. The dyes used are optimally adapted to the different types of plastic and demonstrate top-rate mechanical and chemical resistance. They ensure the high durability of Schleich products and make all Schleich pieces saliva and sweat proof as well as abrasion-resistant, and thus ensure that they are completely safe for playing with. Only once a product meets fully all international laws, standards and guidelines for toys is it released for production.All Schleich articles and materials comply with the national and international toy requirements applicable worldwide, as well as the new European Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC and DIN EN 71.
